Archdiocese response to local infanticide cases
By WGNO ABC 26 News Staff
The Catholic Church is committed to respect for human life in all its forms, especially those of the innocent and most vulnerable.
Perhaps no human is more vulnerable than that of the unborn, which means the Church has the reponsibility to care for the unborn child and the child's mother. ACCESS Pregnancy Center of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Woman's New Life Center offer free counseling and referrals to women facing unplanned pregnancies.
Additionally, the State of Louisiana has in place Safe Haven Laws that allow women to surrender their parental rights by leaving their child, 31 days or younger, at a police station, hospital, medical clinic or other designated spots, no questions asked. The safe haven law is available online at http://www.legis.state.la.us/lss/lss.asp?doc=18064. For more information you can call 1-800-children for more info.
For more information or to access the services of ACCESS Pregnancy Services call Toll Free 1-866-566-1399 or call the hotline (504) 581-5433.
